Supported Command Stations

RailKernel separates railway operation from command-station technology. Every station is connected through the same RailKernel command-station interface, while a dedicated protocol implementation provides the capabilities of the hardware. This gives users one consistent way to operate locomotives, accessories, feedbacks and track power across different systems.

YaMoRC YD7010

The YD7010 is a modern multi-protocol command station. RailKernel supports it directly through Z21 over LAN, LocoNet Binary over LAN, LocoNet over USB and XPressNet over LAN.

Implementation: Implemented and CALF-tested connections: Z21 LAN (UDP), LocoNet Binary LAN (TCP), LocoNet USB and XPressNet LAN. RailKernel supports track power, locomotives, accessories, feedback events and programming-track CV read/write through the applicable YaMoRC interfaces.

Roco Z21 and z21

The Z21 integration controls track power, DCC locomotives, functions and accessories. It processes locomotive and feedback broadcasts and supports service-mode CV reading and writing. RailKernel also contains a Z21-compatible virtual command station for repeatable integration and routing tests.

Implementation: Z21 LAN protocol over UDP, with broadcast subscriptions, request retries, connection supervision and raw protocol logging.

ESU ECoS

RailKernel communicates directly with the ECoS PC interface. It controls locomotives and accessories, follows externally generated state changes, reads feedback contacts, imports ECoS locomotive data and reads and writes DCC decoder CVs on the programming track.

Implementation: Persistent TCP connection to the documented ECoS object protocol, including event subscriptions, command correlation, reconnect handling and protocol logging.

Märklin CS3 and CS3+

The CS3 integration is the most extensive RailKernel command-station implementation. RailKernel operates locomotives and accessories, receives feedback events, imports and synchronises command-station definitions, supports decoder programming and provides access to the CS3 web and VNC interfaces.

Implementation: Direct network integration using the CS3 interfaces, with dedicated monitoring, configuration, synchronisation and recovery services.

Uhlenbrock Intellibox II

RailKernel supports the Intellibox II directly through its USB connection. Hardware tests cover track power, programming-track CV reading and writing, decoder address changes, locomotive driving and functions, accessory control and synchronisation, plus initial and live S88 feedback states.

Implementation: Dedicated Intellibox II adapter over LocoNet USB, including the Uhlenbrock programming dialect, active accessory- and S88-state queries, external control synchronisation and raw protocol logging. Native LocoNet feedback remains to be fully CALF-tested.
